Antequera information
The well known plateau Hoya de Antequera's located,
with a population of 41.000 inhabitants; in its sorroundings
there're important indications from the Bronze Age ( The
Caves of Menga, Viera, and the Romeral ). The city is of
Roman origin (Antikaria), in the VIII century, the muslims
seized it (Antaquira) and later on it was conquered by the
Catholic Kings. The XVI century was the largest economic
peak for the city and the XVII and XVIII centiries, those
of the greatest architectural thrust. In the Alcazaba, constructed
on the Roman ruins, it highlights Torre del Homenaje, where
the famous Papabellotas Bell and the Arco of the Gigantes
are located. It is worth it to visit the Royal Collegiate
church of Santa Maria la Mayor, from the XVI century with
the Mudejar roof and the Renaissance facade (Diego de Siloé).

the charm of the conventional church. Palacio de los Marqueses
de la Peña de los Enamorados, from the XVI century
had palatial Muslim architecture. The Puerta de Granada,
from the XVIII century. The Church of the Madre de Dios
de Monteagudo, from the XVIII century, is the most outstanding
building of the city due to tis innovative architecture.
The Church of the Convento de Recoletas, from the XVII century
