Jamilena
This village is a charming and authentic luminous mosaic of narrow, steep streets of the distinctive regional type, stamped with the mountain character of La Campiña. Its parish church of La Natividad de nuestra Señora, built in the sixteenth century, has been declared a historic Monument. In its honour, Jamilena celebrates three days of musical acts, evening parties and sports competitions.
Another big festival is held the second weekend in May: the pilgrimage
of San isidro. In the environs of the hermitage of that name the
younger pilgrims spend the Saturday vigil in a festive atmosphere
where there is no shortage of bonfires or good eating. Sunday
in the day the pilgrimage is performed, beginning with the departure
of the flamenco-clad attendees to the Hill of San Isidro in colourful
carts. At the end of the road they spend a pleasant day which
concludes with the procession of the image of the accompanied
by floats.
