Higuera de la Sierra

Decide to do something different this Christmas and head to Higuera de la Sierra to enjoy the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Nature Park and the historic city centre and wind up your adventure by attending the traditional Reyes Magos Parade in Higuera de la Sierra, which has been declared to be of national Tourist Interest in Andalusia. The children will enjoy it. The parade is known throughout Huelva because all its participants-including animals-remain immobile during the itinerary.

On 5 January it moves through the streets of the town watched by the more than 30.000 visitors that attend the event. The retinue is composed of a total of 23 floats, including groups of shepherds and the musical bands that accompany the procession. The villages say that there is no trick to the approximately 60 persons as well as a donkey , a dove, a sheep and other animals, that participate in the parade, remain motionless during the entire route. The local residents say that they are taught from the time they are very young not to move.
