On 25th April Adra commemorates the 250th anniversary
of the arrival of the first image of San Marcos and
for that purpose celebrates different cultural activities
through the week. But you must go to Adra and be amazed
by its coastal lagoons. These are located on the east
end of the delta of the River Adra and are made up
of three coastal bodies of water-albufera Honda, Albufera
Nueva and Albufera litoral- that have been designated
as a nature Reserve and that serve as a refuge for
a major population of water birds, notably the white
headed duck that is an endangered species. In order
to promote the city, the tapas route was organized
in Adra years ago and goodness what a delicious and
unique invention it was. And surely at social get
together you will be told of the beautiful marine
processions that this town puts on for the patrons
saints days on 8 September and 16 July or of the Theatre
of comedy and Humour Festival that is celebrated in
august.
