La Coruña, coruna information
The Baroque style
Examples of this style, we have the church of Las Capuchinas,
San Nicolas and San Jorge. We have also to mention the convent
of Santo Domingo with a chapel dedicated to La Virgen del Rosario,
patron saint of the city.
It is also important to stand out the City Hall in the square
of Plaza de María Pita, an elegant and modern building built at
the beginning of the 20th century, which stands out for its galleries
and its three towers finished with fantastic cupolas.
The Archive of the Kingdom of Galicia is in the San Carlos Garden,
this site is protected by a fortress built in 1843 .
The Old city is surrounded by the coastal area, where tradition
and modernity coexist together. There we can see the port, the
Marina avenue and the traditional houses with white glazed galleries
of the 19th century.
You can also visit the Castle of San Anton of the 16th century
in the harbour area where the Archaeological Museum is situated
(Galician prehistory, culture, etc..)
The science Museum is located in the Parque of Santa Margarita
it is important to mention its Planetarium .
Along the promenade you have also the acuarium and the Domus which
have been already mentioned at the beginning of this text.
