The Autonomy Process of Extremadura
Once democratic freedoms were restored in Spain, pre-autonomy was granted to the region on June 13th, 1978, and in August of that same year, the 'Junta' or regional government of Extremadura was set up.
The current Statute of Autonomy, having been approved by the Cortes, came into force on February 26th, 1983.
