Dos Torres
More than 2.500 kilograms of chips and sawdust died in varied colours with more than one hundred litres of paint from a long carpet that adorns the streets of Dos Torres for the festivities honouring San Roque, patron saint of the village.
The carpet is made in San Roque Street, the connecting link between
the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción
and the Hermitage of San Roque and is composed of a dozen drawings
with religious motifs, images of the saint, the heraldic shield
of Dos Torres and other characteristic symbols of the region displayed
all along the carpet. This work of art is in honour of the patron
saint, whose image is conveyed in a procession on 4 August from
its hermitage to the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción
church so that on the 16th San Roque can return to his hermitage
on a throne carried by almost forty bearers who take turns along
the route. To wind up the fiestas several interesting bullfighting
festivities are held in the little plaza of the town.
