Madrid Rastro
Also in this area of Madrid de los Asturias, one of the world's most famous outdoor markets, the Rastro, opens its doors every Sunday morning (excuse the metaphor). Thousands of stalls and barrows, offering every object imaginable, either new or second-hand, extend along several streets and squares from the well-known Plaza de Cascarro, considered to be the 'main entrance' of the Rastro. It also boasts many antique shops, although these are open during the week and not just on Sundays.
A visit to the Rastro means taking part in a spectacular and massive trading event, both traditional and peripatetic, in which the most important thing is not to buy but to have a look.
Another outdoor market is open on Sunday and is also worth a
visit - that of old stamps and coins in Plaza Mayor. For almost
a century, stamp and coin dealers have set up their stalls in
the most emblematic square in Madrid de los Asturias and sold
their merchandise to collectors.
