The Cathedral was built on top of a Romanesque church and was not finished until the 17th century during which its two towers were completed.
Its structure is late Gothic, with some Baroque and Plateresque
such as the main entrance and two of its towers. The main altarpiece
is chamfered, a decision made by its designer, Gaspar Becerra,
to make it into an apse. The main entrance is florid Gothic and
is very striking, with an abundance of plant and angelic adornments.
The doors of the vestry are by Gil de Hontañón.
Inside sculptures of great value such as an Inmaculada by Gregorio
Fernández can also be found. In one of the rooms that can
be accessed through the cloister is the Diocesan Museum.
