Daroca information
Daroca has one of the best collections of historic buildings in Aragón and also stages an international festival of old or traditional music.
Daroca lies 83 km from Zaragoza, and is know as "the city of the seven sevens" because of the variety of marvellous monuments which stand here. The centre is composed of a medieval city enclosed behind a 13th and 14th-century wall measuring three-and-a-half kilometres. From the urban layout, with its differentiated neighbourhoods, to the great many churches, such as Santo Domingo de Silos and San Miguel, the town is a compendium of art. In the splendid Collegiate Church of Santa María, from the 16th century, you will find the chapel of Los Corporales, a relic preserved in an extraordinary piece of precious metalwork.
Outstanding among the civil buildings is the house of the Luna family, from the 15th century, and the entire Jewish quarter, with a collection of Renaissance and baroque buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries. Daroca also has three castles, whose remains are still standing.
As well as its historic buildings and traditional Aragonese cuisine, the celebration of Corpus Christi is another good reason to visit the town.
