Castellon Parks

Ribalta Park (The Ribalta)
Park is the oldest public park in the city and preserves an extensive variety of plant species. Located in front of the railway station, the park is representative of 19th-century tastes. A number of walkways intersect each other, forming little squares where the Music Pavilion, the Pérgola, the pond and an old locomotive called the Panderola are located, making the park a delightful place for people of all ages. In the area surrounding the park, various modernist buildings and the Bull Ring create an atmosphere in which it is possible to sink back into the tranquil past. The Crafts and Alternative Lifestyles Fair is held in the central walkway each year coinciding with the fiestas of the Magdalena.

Avenida del Rey D. Jaime (King James Avenue)
Named after the James I, the Conqueror, is a wide city avenue flanked by modern buildings, among which the unique brick Post and Telegraph Office is of note, together with the Secondary School Francisco Ribalta. The latter contains a splendid collection of frescos by Castells depicting the arts and sciences. Presiding the avenue is a statue of King James, done by the Castellón-born artist José Viciano. Other squares and avenues in the city offer attractive gardens such as those of the Geologist Royo Gómez and of the Botanist Calduch.
