Salamanca information
The University of Salamanca
The University of Salamanca was founded in 1218, gaining a reputation outside of Spain as a great cultural and teaching centre.
The university building has a square base and a central courtyard
with surrounding galleries. Its artistic interest lies in its
unique Plateresque façade. Alongside the university, we find the
Lesser Schools, which have similar artistic analogies on their
fronts. The ceiling of one of the lecture halls was painted by
Fernando Gállego. The university currently has over 2100
teaching staff.
