Pontones
Pontones is one of the population centres most characteristic of the Sierra de Segura. Its type abd tonality is perfectly integrated with the mountain landscape and it has the beautiful late fifteenth century parish church of Santiago Aportol. If you want peace and quiet make a reservation in the mountain hostel of Rio Zumeta, pack your knapsack and explore the attractions of the Sierra de Segura. Tours in all-terrain vehicles can be organised for you at the hostel itself. Winter is a good time to see the attractions of this region, when the local inhabitants hold the traditional hog killing. If you go in July mount a burro and take part in an unusual race, and if you go in august be careful with the yearling calves, since they are run through the public streets.
