Ascent to the Cabañas. Jaén trekking routes

Time: Three hours.
The Cañada de las Fuentes is situated in the sorroundings of the
source of the river Guadalquivir. From this place there are three possibles
walking tours along three different forest tracks, to Pozo Alcón,
Vadillo Castril and Quesada.
We shall make our way to Pozo Alcón, descending Gualay´s
hillock and after a soft ascent we shall arrive at Puertollano, 1,800
m. high, and 200 m. farther we shall get to Cabañas peak.
The peak is on the left on the mountain pass, to the east.
In order to reach the top we shall walk on round it first along its southern
slope, to the right and upwards, and when reaching the edge along its
southeastern side, we shall ascend straight to the top.
From the top, 2,028 m. high, the whole park and the most important peads
can be seen in a very impressive landscape.
