Sierra de Cazorla. Poblado del Tranco - Fuente de los Cerezos. Jaén trekking routes

Time: Two hours.

Leaving the village El Tranco, from where there is a beautiful view of the reservoir, we must take our way to Cazrola towards the reservoir where the water overflows through the valley with a beautiful forest by the river Guadalquivir. After crossing the reservoir, we shall take a track to the right which runs on paralell to the river throughout the gorge of the Guadalquivir, but this will not be our track. When reaching the Fuente (fountain) de los Cerezos, we must come back to a track which is situated between the Tranco village and the reservoir. The track leads to Villanueva del Arzobispo, making its way down between narrow walls until reaching an area called El Charco del Aceite. Behind this area there is a bridge on our right which crosses a track that leads to the Fuente de los Cerezos camping site, about 6 km. from the aforementioned junction between the bridge and the road.

The camping site belongs to the AMA, so a permit is required. It is situated in an area sorrounded by mountains and wooded by pine, cherry and elm trees.
