Sierra
de Cazorla. Ascent along the river Aguasmulas. Jaén
trekking routes
Time: Four hours.
From Cotorríos there is a forest track which after running past
a camp area makes its way to Pontones.
Walking on along the banks of the Tranco de Bea´s reservoir for
1 km. there is an area frequented by deer shich come down to the river
to drink.
A bit farther there is a junction which we must take to the right and
walk on past a venta (roadside restaurant).
The track winds its way upwards among mountains and thick pine groves,
parallel to the river Aguasmulas where we can make our way to in order
to walk on along the lanes by its banks towards a mountain, the track
leads to La Fresnedilla country house, 1,150 m. high.
From this place we can make our way to the source of the river Aguasmulas
and its natural fountains along its banks, this time without a track.
The area has great ecologic value.
