Turre Almeria

Five kilometres from Mojacar is Turre a village that has three festivals that few travellers know about but that they should see. At Christmas the local residents publicly bet money on a game that will leave the visitor bewildered: Boliche a kind of ground billiards in which there are only six balls and one hole.

During Holy Week you must visit Turre to hear the locals sing soft primitive saetas as the thronged images pass by.

However, Holy week holds another attraction on Good Friday and resurrection Sunday: The Races and Tumbles where the members of the brotherhood of San Juan run with the image and then there are the horsebacks ring races in La Rambla.
